Pretty cool that the somewhat new owners are Jason and Grant from the Ghost Hunters show. The Ghost Hunter's International team actually did an investigation for them.

Hi June,

What fun! I love any hotel that has interesting (not terribly scary) ghosts, and is a "happy haunt." Several hotels fit this profile, including New Orleans' Hotel Monteleone and -- of course -- the Spalding Inn.

I'm delighted that you're going back with more people. The Spalding is an absolute gem. (If you see someone painting at an easel on their front lawn, it might be me.)

Cheerfully,
Fiona

I stayed at the Spalding Inn with 5 of my female cousins and sisters last October 09. I stayed in rm 38 with my sister. We had all decided to shut off the lights and sit on the kingsize bed and ask if there was anyone with us in the room and if there was, if they could make a loud bang noise. Well, within 5 seconds, there was a loud bang on the desk that was at the end of the bed. I asked again if they could make that noise again, but nothing. After 3-4am, we all decided it was time for bed, everyone left, and then not 2 minutes after we were in bed, the door to my room unlocked (made like a unlatching noise) and the door opened up 1/2 way. My sister yelled "OH CRAP", I got up and looked in the hallway and there was no one there. My other 2 sisters were in the room next to us, so I told them thru the adjoining door in our rooms, that our door had just unlocked and opened, they said just as I was telling them this, they heard a loud bang in their room, (but I didnt hear it). My cousins who were in the room across from them told me the next morning that she had placed some clothes on her bed, went into the bathroom, came out and all her clothes that she laid out were now on the floor. Other then experiencing these awesome encounters, we had a really nice time there. We were the only people there for that weekend. so quiet and comfortable. Going again this year with 10 of now (Girls weekend away, called the "Cordone girls weekend away").
