About Fiona Broome and Hollow Hill

ABOUT FIONA BROOME

Fiona BroomeFiona Broome is a third-generation psychic and paranormal investigator.  She was raised in Belmont, Massachusetts and has spent considerable time researching in the United States, Canada, the U.K. and Ireland.  Wherever she goes, Ms. Broome investigates ghost stories and haunted places.

Fiona’s specialty is identifying the patterns that result in ghost reports.  In Austin, Texas, Ms. Broome’s groundbreaking research uncovered the connection between most of that downtown’s haunted sites, builder Abner Cook, and the bricks he used from haunted Shoal Creek.

This kind of research has earned Fiona a reputation for finding unreported and under-reported haunted places.

She is also respected for her on-site investigations and her in-depth historical research using primary sources.

Fiona has written hundreds of articles about paranormal topics.  Her stories have appeared in magazines such as “Fate,” and in books such as “Weird Hauntings,” “Weird Encounters,” and “Armchair Reader: Weird, Scary and Unusual.”

Fiona’s photos have appeared in many of those same publications, and she was an illustrator for the children’s book, Do Not Open by John Farndon.

Fiona is the author of The Ghosts of Austin, Texas (2007, Schiffer Books).  In 2009, she is completing her next two books, The Ghosts of Salem, Massachusetts, and The Ghosts of New Orleans’ French Quarter.

Ms. Broome’s residence is in New England, but she feels equally at home in haunted sites throughout the U.S., and she frequently visits the U.K. and Ireland for research, media appearances and vacations.

Fiona appears regularly at ghost conferences and conventions.  She is an annual Guest at Dragon*Con in Atlanta, Georgia.

ABOUT HOLLOW HILL

Hollow Hill was founded by psychic Fiona Broome in the mid-1990s as ‘Yankee Haunts‘.  It featured ghost information from New England, especially the Seacoast regions of New Hampshire and Maine.

As Fiona’s investigations took her to locations outside of New England, and sometimes outside the U.S., the website needed a new name.

The term ‘Hollow Hill’ comes from Irish folklore, and seemed appropriate for Fiona’s slightly irreverent approach to paranormal studies.

Today, Hollow Hill remains primarily the work of its founder, Fiona Broome, plus a small group of researchers and administrative staff.

We focus entirely on public, haunted places that our readers can visit, and we provide information about visiting them.

We want you to enjoy ghost hunting whether you’re on vacation or in your own hometown.  HollowHill.com offers hundreds of webpages with tips for successful ghost hunting, whether you’re a beginner or an experienced researcher.

All of our articles are original. Although research is often a team effort, most of our articles are written by Fiona Broome.

Ms. Broome also podcasts regularly at HollowHillPodcasts.com, and writes our free email Hollow Hill newsletter. In that newsletter, our readers learn ‘behind-the-scenes’ information about our investigations, and discover additional tips for successful ghost hunts.

Currently, most of our research is in Texas, New England and the U.K.  Through 2009, Ms. Broome is working on her book about the ghosts of Salem, Massachusetts, followed by her research for The Ghosts of New Orleans’ French Quarter.
