Houston - Old Greenhouse Road orbs

Mar 20th, 2008 | By Fiona Broome | Category: Houston

Old Greenhouse Road is very close to Katy, Texas. It is in a very residential area, with a few wooded areas and fields. According to very dangerous local legend, the ghost of an old woman is supposed to appear on the bridge if you turn off your car lights as the road turns and then approach the bridge very slowly.

We advise you in the strongest possible terms: Do NOT do that. It’s not only illegal, but puts you in significant danger. As the road turns sharply, you cannot see oncoming traffic as you approach the bridge.  If a car has stopped or is driving especially slowly, it could get hit… easily.

We investigated this location at dusk. Frankly, it doesn’t feel haunted there. I detected nothing anomalous with the compass.

However, we do have a few odd digital photos from the area next to the bridge:

As you can see, there is one huge orb and at least one smaller one in back of the trees. This orb could be over the bridge; there is no way to be certain. At that size and distance, the orb was at least ten feet tall, and possibly larger. (It’s not a reflection from the street sign, because the orb is in back of the trees; a reflection would be in front of the sign and in front of the trees.)

Standing at the same spot, I took another photo to the right of the previous shot:

I have lightened the picture digitally, so that you can see the many orbs in the photos.

The area around the bridge may be haunted. The “old woman” story is such a classic urban legend, I don’t take it seriously. And, the bridge doesn’t feel haunted.

My film photos were generally unremarkable, except for two pictures showing possible ectoplasm. (See our other Houston articles.)

These pictures aren’t normal, so there may be hauntings around this bridge. Because of the dangerous traffic there, we did no further investigations at the site.  It’s a busy location, so there’s no way to drive slowly at the bridge.  Even on foot, this is not a site that interests us further.

If you research there, be very mindful of the traffic and poor visibility at that turn in the road.
