Ghosts – Who can you really help?
Fiona talks about the differences between haunted places that are good for research, and haunted places where you can help ghosts to “cross over.”
Here’s the bottom line: If you’re in a cemetery or another very public, haunted place, you probably aren’t the first person to try to help the ghost you’ve encountered.
(Generally, friends and family at the burial service — as well as members of the clergy — wish the deceased well, and suggest where they expect he or she will go next… if the person isn’t already there. That’s a powerful, combined message.)
Remember that, at a popular cemetery or haunted site, you may not even be among the first 100 people who’ve tried to help the spirits.
Don’t let this deter you from trying to help. You may be the person whose energy or message finally reaches a trapped spirit in a cemetery or popular haunted location.
However, it’s best to decide how much time you’ll spend on this kind of work, before you attempt contact with the spirit. (Repeated, short visits — 20 minutes or less — are generally more productive than single, lengthy dialogues with the spirits.)

By contrast, you may find greater success at private residences and businesses if your primary goal is to help spirits trapped on the earthly plane.
