Notes from Fiona:
Those who know me in real life also know that I’m very skeptical of labels when it comes to anomalous photos. However, among ghost hunters, “ecto” (short for “ectoplasm”) has become a common expression for strange areas of unexplained color in our photos.

The two photos above were taken within seconds of each other without a flash. The odd red band of color does not extend outside the frame of the photo, so it’s not a light leak. It’s also in the middle of a series of other perfectly normal photos.

Likewise, the negative was not affected by chemicals and it is a unique frame in an otherwise unremarkable series of pictures on the film. Further, I instructed the film lab (a one-hour) not to make any corrections to individual frames, but to run the film “as is” through the processor.

So, I have no explanation for yet another very odd photo from Old Greenhouse Road in Houston, Texas (near Katy, Texas). My only other photos like this have come from profoundly haunted locations.

There is a very slim possibility that there is something that happens to the camera lens, once in every two thousand photos or so. While this is very unlikely, it must be considered when looking for reasonable explanations.

Camera: Olympus 35mm, using 200 ISO film without a flash. Film developed at Wal-Mart one-hour service, Katy, TX.
