Children and ghost hunting
Are children more aware of ghosts? Do children make better ghost hunters than adults?
In this 15 minute podcast, “Children and Ghost Hunting,” those questions are answered by psychic ghost hunter Fiona Broome, the founder of Hollow Hill.
Among the points discussed by Fiona:
- Children are more perceptive than most adults, but also less objective.
- Ghosts, especially angry ghosts, can manifest as very large spirits and terrify children.
- Children can be physically, mentally and spiritually more vulnerable than adults.
- Adults are more objective but also less observant.
- Adults are more likely to investigate something odd before calling it a ghost; a child may be frightened and want to leave.
- Teens may be a “happy medium” … no pun intended.
In this podcast, Fiona also discusses liability issues regarding children, teens and adults. She explains how to plan ahead in case an adult becomes very frightened or belligerent during a ghost hunt.

I do believe children are more perceptive to see spirits. We recently conducted an investigation on a private home in Port Townsend, Washington. The family has three children and one was a seven month old female baby. During our investigation, I watched the baby. She seemed to be looking toward the ceiling as if looking up at an adult. she was watching something and sometimes laughing at nothing. I also believe her eyes were following the spirit. The nine year old boy seemed to be talking to someone that wasn’t in the room. Whenever anyone entered his room, he would shut up. I asked who he was talking to, and he’d respond. noone. The investigation has concluded that the home has two adults, a young male child, and a baby spirits. We captured each voice during our EVP session and a few great photographs. We also hear a man and woman arguing in a room thaty appeared empty. later we heard a male child laughing and heard a baby crying a few times. It was a great investigation. So, in conclusion. I do beleive children can see and enteract with ghosts.
Hi,
I also agree children are very perceptive to the paranormal. Children can get scared too easily though to take them out. My last cemetary hunt, my 6 year old really wanted to go. This particular cemetary is pretty benign but even there one has concerns to risk it.
Hey Rich! I’m up in WA also- skagit county area.
