One of Hollow Hill’s most popular real ghost photos was taken near the Guard House at Fort Worden, in Port Townsend, Washington, near Seattle on the night of April 4th, 2003.
When this photo was taken, colorful orbs and sparkles appeared all around me. Most of them were to my right and left, and I [...]
Ectoplasm? We’re not sure what caused the odd misty areas in the unretouched photo at left. The photo was taken with a tripod and a delayed shutter, so there was no chance of a camera strap, jewelry, or hair reflecting light on the lens. I was over five feet away when the photo [...]
Columbus City Cemetery, in Columbus, Texas, is one of the most photogenic cemeteries in southeast Texas, and it may be one of its most delightfully haunted. In the daytime photo above, an orb appears near the angel monument. The skies were heavily overcast, so this wasn’t a lens flare; [...]
Several people have commented on this ghost photo. Below, we’ve included a sketch to show one interpretation of the figure in the photo. The picture at the left has been modified only to enhance the contrast, and to add a circle to indicate where the face is. Other than that, this photo is exactly as [...]
On the evening of 21 May 2002, Fiona visited Gilson Road Cemetery, Nashua, NH, to experiment with photographs, hoping to explain a few anomalies in some “ghost photo” class pictures.

Ghost photo from
haunted Gilson Road Cemetery, Nashua, NH
Fiona’s comments: This real “ghost photo” was taken at Nashua’s Gilson Road Cemetery when we were researching ghosts and hauntings. It’s one of our favorite “What is this?” pictures.
I took this ghost photo with a $6 disposable Fuji camera. On [...]

So, when we see something like the eerie mist in this photograph, we get very excited about it.
Fiona says: Forget [...]
Fiona’s notes: These are two photos taken 26 Nov 1999 at Gilson Road Cemetery, Nashua, NH. We took them with a Fuji disposable Quicksnap camera, with 800 ASA film in it. I took these photographs about five seconds apart.
Ignore the apparent “orbs.” It was already becoming a foggy night [...]
We have no idea what this is. It’s not exposed film or a light leak; the colored area does not extend outside the frame of the picture. The negative shows no damage, either, so it’s not a splash of chemicals or water, or some other surface effect.
Three of us [...]
This is the famous “purple streak” photo taken at Gilson Road Cemetery at about 10:30 p.m. on Friday, 5 November 1999. The picture has not been enhanced or altered in any way, except slight compression to reduce load time.
I did not see anything like this magenta streak when I was taking the photos. I [...]
