Which Cemeteries Are Haunted?

Dec 20th, 2009 | By Fiona Broome | Category: Ghost hunters guide

The vast majority of graves do not seem to be haunted.  I would guess that at least 95% of graves are simply tributes to a person’s life.  No spirit is there.
Nevertheless, cemeteries are still among the best places to learn ghost hunting.   In most cemeteries, you’ll find at least one or two very haunted graves.
That’s [...]

THE BASICS
First, be sure to read my article, Before You Join a Ghost Hunting Group and my discussion about Local Ghost Hunting Groups (scroll down the page for that section).
They’re both part of my free ghost hunting course, Introduction to Ghost Hunting.

The following are the results:
The results show that most readers believe that people should do this work for free, or just [...]

Looking back – Ed and Lorraine Warren

Jul 5th, 2009 | By Fiona Broome | Category: Professional ghost hunting

Recently, several people have asked my opinion of Ed and Lorraine Warren.  Here’s my reply.
Ed and Lorraine Warren have been — together and as individuals — vital to the development and popularity of this field.  Without their work, I don’t think there would be a “Ghost Hunters” TV show, etc.
I can say the same about [...]

How much do you charge?

Jul 5th, 2009 | By Fiona Broome | Category: Ghosts in your home

During June 2009, we conducted a poll of our readers to see how much they charge when they investigate a private residence.
These were the results:
Among those who’ve talked with me about how much they charge, most echo the poll results.  They don’t charge the client anything at all, or — if travel expenses are involved [...]

Orb Sightings – Who sees orbs?

Jun 19th, 2009 | By Fiona Broome | Category: Ghost photography

Orbs are translucent circles or spheres that appear in photos and videos. When we can’t explain them, those orb sightings are often considered paranormal.
In addition, some people see orbs in real life, not just in film. To them, the orbs seem to be floating in air. However, the vast majority of people [...]

Jun 14th, 2009 | By Fiona Broome | Category: Ghost hunters guide

Certified ghost hunter? Licensed? Competent ?  How do these terms affect us as ghost hunters?  The following include my answers to a reader’s comments and questions on these topics.
The reader asked why my free Introduction to Ghost Hunting course issues a certificate.
A certificate is just that… a certificate. It’s a piece of paper (or a [...]

Before You Join a Ghost Hunting Group

Jun 12th, 2009 | By Fiona Broome | Category: Ghost hunters guide

There are several important things to consider before joining a ghost hunting group or team.
Don’t assume that you know the group’s policies, beliefs and practices, just because you know someone in the group or you’ve been to a few of their investigations.
These are some of the points to ask about.

Locations
Spiritual context of the group
Investigation and [...]

Scams and con artists

Jun 12th, 2009 | By Fiona Broome | Category: Featured articles, Ghost hunters guide

Scams and con artists can be in any field.
Unfortunately, ghost hunting is especially vulnerable to people whose primary interests are financial gain, celebrity status, or power.
I’m not talking about people who mistakenly think they’re more skilled than they really are.
I mean the people who look you straight in the eye and tell you lies for [...]

Psychics – The Research Debate

Jun 5th, 2009 | By Fiona Broome | Category: Professional ghost hunting

Should psychics learn a site’s history ahead of time, or not?  That seems to be an issue.
I think it’s important to know the history — and admit to it — but I may be different since I’ve been aware of my psychic abilities since earliest childhood.
Sure, it’s impressive when you think that a psychic couldn’t [...]
