Recently, several people have asked about linking to HollowHill.com.

Here’s the quick reply:

No permission is necessary.  I’m delighted when someone links to this website, my books, or anything that I write or podcast about.

Thank you for linking to my work!

Here are the details:

I’ve been writing online articles about ghosts  since around 1995, when it was a compliment if someone linked to a website.  I still take it that way… well, unless the person says something horrid.

(Even then, if they portray Hollow Hill accurately, being insulted by skeptics and fools may be a reverse compliment.  So… go for it!)

Oh, if someone uses more than three or four sentences from Hollow Hill, I like to know about it and have a link back to the site or to one of my books.  However, people in forums have posted entire articles without mentioning that the article came from my site.  That irks me, but it’s the Internet… though I check now & then, I gave up on steadily policing my work, years ago.

To reprint the entire article, see my Copyright information.  (My articles are covered by a Creative Commons license so you can use them, with just a few restrictions.)

In general, I’m honored when someone links to Hollow Hill or any of my work, and wish I had the time to reciprocate.

About reciprocal links:

I think I stop updating my reciprocal links page around 2004, when the “Ghost Hunters” TV show increased my site traffic by about 10x, and the email started getting crazy.

I intend to update it, but… well, this site is largely a one-person production, and I need more hours in the day!

However, if you link to Hollow Hill or any of my work and your site is in a relevant field, leave a comment below.  Include a link to your site and a brief (up to three sentences) description of what your website is about.

All comments at this site are screened before approval.  However, as long as your site isn’t completely off-topic (dating, gambling, pharmaceuticals, etc.) or malicious (in any sense of the word), we’ll probably approve your comment.

Special thanks to my friends Rich & Samantha,
of Paranormal Investigators of North Kitsap,
for asking about this.

I am not or try not to be a beleiver of ghosts but it happend to us back in 1994 and lasted until 1998.
Now its 2010 and it is starting over again in our home.
We bought this home new and we had strange things happen like when we would leave our home all of our lights were out and when we came home every light would be on. When we had friends and relatives over to visit and sleep over they herd the same noises that we herd that woke all of us up. It was like our house was being destroyed downstairs. There was the loud sounds of furniture being thrown accross the floor and the loud banging of objects. When we all went downstairs there was nothing broken or out of place. The friends never stayed over again. When my daughter was 3 we herd herd screem from her room my wife and I went running to make sure she was ok and she kept saying can you see all of those people, and my daughter would say there is another one. We had to have her sleep with us because we were concerned about how vivid she was telling us of the people in her room. Our Doberman Pincher was growling and watching the same thing my daughter was because their heads would turn at the same time watching something that me or my wife couldn’t see. This only happened once because for some strange reason our dog stayed at our daughters room. Other things happened after this like end table lights would come on and it was not pluged in. I kept saying to myself this stuff does not happen it can not be real but it was. I was told be a friend to say a prayer and tell this ghost or what ever it was to leave that this was my home and I am not leaving. It worked the noises stopped, no more strange lighting problems, or doors opening by themselves.
Here it has been almost 12 years and it is happening again to us. I tried the prayer that the lady told me to say but it is not working. We had pipes burst, in August, that flooded our home I wrote it off as cheap building materials. Then three weeks later another pipe burst again I assume what are the chances of having this happen twice to us. I had my wife stay over at my brother and sister inlaws house while I and a friend worked on restoring our home. I was getting a shower and he was down stairs when he came running up the stairs and said there is something weird going on downstairs with all of your lights. I got out of the shower and we stood at the top of the stairs it sounded again like someone was walking around downstairs. You could hear furniture being moved around. He had a pocket knife and me with a towel and a bat went down to look. again nothing was moved or destoyed. My friend and me walked back into the living room and stood there when we herd the table in our kitchen being moved. we ran to look but there was nothing. He said dude you have a problem and he is right because me still being not a true beleiver saw something for the first time. I was less then 5 feet away from a our table light that was sitting on our floor and it moved 1 inch by itself. I could not beleive it the dam thing moved all by itself. I ran upstairs and got my wife to show her and to have her sit with me and watch to see it do it again but nothing. Then just tonight our door bell stater to ring all by its self and would not shut off. I had to disconect the wires. I feel thing touch my legs and face it is starting to freak me out but I am not affraid of them or it. I am worried for my wife and daughter and was wondering what would make this thing return to our home again and what can we do to get rid of it. Please help Joseph M. Groff

      Mr. Groff,

You’re describing the kind of situation that needs to be evaluated by professionals. Any time there’s an issue with water (bursting pipes) and electrical devices — the table light and the doorbell — you’re dealing with something that’s a significant safety issue.

The noises, etc., could be poltergeist phenomena. That can be scary, but it’s rarely a severe problem.

Check with someone who has experience in the field of demonology. John Zaffis and Father Calder are among the top in that field, and I recommend them. See my article, http://hollowhill.com/possessed-need-help/

Above all, I recommend not using prayers or holy water until the situation has been evaluated, or you at least have some professional advice. If you’re dealing with something truly malicious, lesser efforts (such as simple religious activities) can make things worse instead of better. (It’s like the entity is laughing, and saying, “Is that all you’ve got…?” before increasing the activity.)

It’s not unusual for a malicious entity to leave, and then return some time later. I’ve heard of cases needing repeated handlings, sometimes six or more times, to achieve a lasting result.

Contact people with experience in this kind of problem. That’s important.

      Sincerely,
      Fiona Broome

I have investigated a few grave yards 1 of which puzzles me .I kept smelling flowers around a few of the graves.Upon searching both that night which happened to be on a full moon and the next morning to try and find the flowers that I had smelt the night before. There were no flowers except silk flowers that had been there so long they had faded out in the sun.Why was I smelling the strong smell of fresh flowers is there something to this.

    • Fiona Broome says:

      Linda,

If you’ve noticed the aroma of flowers where there is no explanation, that’s an anomaly. It’s definitely worth investigating.

      Sincerely,

We have lived in the same apartment for 8 years and 6 months ago we have been seeing some very strange things in our Apt. that is scaring the hell out of us and we are in need of help. Dark shadows, knocking (loud) at our front door when no one is there. Cold spots,
We are currently looking for another Apt, but things are getting bad by the day. our animals are getting scared and one died last week. The dark shadows are the worst, extremely frightening!. We are looking for ANY advice as to how to deal with this untill we move. HELP!. there are many other things going as well, doors that do not have keys locking them selves. we cannot sleep well due to fright. What ever is going on is taking a severe toll on us and our animals. Do you have any suggestions on how to deal with this.
    Thankyou
